Alo Valge's 9 Figures Explores Art's Emotional and Financial Weight in Tallinn

A new solo exhibition by Estonian artist Alo Valge has opened at the Pop and Contemporary Art Museum (PoCo) in Tallinn. Titled 9 Figures, the show runs until March 31 and explores the emotional and financial weight of art through portraits of nine influential artists. Born in Põlva, southern Estonia, Valge now lives in Wiesbaden, Germany. His work often reflects on how art lingers in memory and emotion, not just as a physical object. Walking serves as a key source of inspiration for his creative process.

The exhibition centres on nine artists, three of whom have sold works for over $100 million at auction. These include Jeff Koons' *Rabbit* (2019, $91.1 million), David Hockney's *Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)* (2018, $179.2 million), and Beeple's NFT piece *Everydays: The First 5000 Days* (2021, $69.3 million). Valge's portraits examine how art functions as an investment, a personal identity, and even a dream. Beyond market value, the show questions how posthumous fame can inflate auction prices. Valge's own pieces have entered private collections across Europe, reinforcing his belief that art's true worth lies in its emotional resonance.

The exhibition remains open to visitors until the end of March. Through 9 Figures, Valge invites viewers to consider art's dual role—as both a cultural touchstone and a high-stakes commodity. His portraits highlight how creativity endures long after the auction hammer falls.
