Almaty's mayor openly admits to frequently turning off the city's lights.

In the heart of Almaty, the Almalinsky district has seen a significant improvement in its power supply situation. The response time for requests related to lighting issues has been reduced drastically, now taking only five days, as opposed to the previous waiting period of up to two months.

This development was announced by Erbolat Dosaev, the Akim (mayor) of Almaty, who also highlighted that the Almalinsky district akimat had processed over 50 requests related to street lighting issues in August alone.

The improved response time is expected to help resolve the frequent outages and interruptions that have been a source of frustration for residents in the district. Erbolat Dosaev himself has experienced these power outages in his own apartment.

The increased efficiency is attributed to the deployment of seven emergency brigades daily in the Almalinsky district, compared to the previous reliance on just one. This enhanced response capacity is a welcome change for residents who have raised concerns about the condition of street lighting in the district in the past.

However, Erbolat Dosaev acknowledged that the electrical networks in the Almalinsky district date back to 1957, and immediate solutions may not be readily available. As a temporary measure, the Almaty Housing and Utilities Committee (AHK) has suggested that Erbolat Dosaev consider purchasing equipment to manage the issue.

Despite these challenges, the Almalinsky district akimat has taken proactive steps to address the problem. They have entered into a contract for street lighting maintenance with AO "AlmatyGorSvet". Additionally, the AO "Alatau Zharyq Company", which manages the Double Star residential tower, has registered measures to modernize the electrical infrastructure and improve power supply reliability.

In a show of commitment to resolving the power outage issue, the mayor of Almaty, Erbolat Dosaev, has promised to give instructions to the district Akim and AHK to address the problem. This renewed focus on improving the power supply in the Almalinsky district is a positive step towards ensuring a more reliable and consistent service for its residents.
