Alleged Indecent Birthday Greeting from Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, Revealed by Democrats
In a recent turn of events, a letter allegedly signed by former US President Donald Trump for Jeffrey Epstein's 2003 birthday has been brought to light. The letter, which includes the words, "A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday - and may every day be another wonderful secret," has sparked controversy and raised questions about Trump's friendship with the late financier, who was accused of sexually abusing and trafficking dozens of underage girls.
The letter was part of a birthday book compiled for Epstein, containing messages from various individuals, including Bill Clinton and Peter Mandelson. However, the author of the Trump-related letter remains unnamed in the search results, and the authenticity of the letter is yet to be confirmed.
White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich posted pictures of Trump's signature, denying its authenticity, and tagged News Corp. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt stated that the letter's disclosure proves the entire story is false. On the other hand, Donald Trump has denied writing the letter or drawing the accompanying picture, calling the report on the letter "false, malicious, and defamatory."
The US president has also denied any wrongdoing, and his attorneys have argued that "no authentic letter or drawing exists." In suing the publishers of the Wall Street Journal, Trump's attorneys are seeking $10bn in damages over a report on the alleged letter.
The controversy surrounding the letter will likely amplify questions surrounding Trump's relationship with Epstein and suggestions of improper behavior. The drawing and its publication have sparked a bipartisan demand in Congress for the release of the so-called Epstein files. Republicans, including JD Vance before he was sworn in as vice-president, have called for the release of the records.
Lawyers for the Epstein estate have stated they are unaware of the existence of a "list of clients involved in sex, sex acts, or sex trafficking facilitated by Mr Jeffrey Epstein." Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan jail while awaiting trial in 2019. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2008 after pleading guilty to Florida state charges of one count of soliciting prostitution and one count of soliciting prostitution from someone under the age of 18.
As the debate over the letter's authenticity continues, expect arguments to persist, possibly including forensic investigations. The controversy serves as a reminder of the complex web of relationships and allegations that surrounded Epstein and his associates.
