Alleged images surface of iPhone 17 Pro battery sporting metal casing reportedly leaked online
In a recent leak, renowned leaker Majin Bu has shared images of a metal-covered battery for the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro. This revelation suggests that the iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17 Air, may offer removable batteries as a feature.
The iPhone 17 Air, much like its predecessors, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, is expected to have a removable battery for easy replacement. The capacity of the iPhone 17 Air's battery is reportedly around 2,900 milliampere-hours, aligning with earlier speculations that it would range from 2,800 to 3,000 milliampere-hours.
The metal-covered battery is not only a component of the iPhone 17 Pro but also serves as a heat sink, helping in dissipating heat, as batteries generate heat during use. This could potentially improve the device's performance and longevity.
Majin Bu's leak also hints at the iPhone 17 series having two variants, one with a physical SIM card slot and one without. This distinction is likely to be present in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air, as well as the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17 Air, can be pre-ordered starting Friday, September 12, 2025, at 14:00. The official release date and availability in stores begin Friday, September 19, 2025.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach Apple's Keynote in September, where the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air, along with the rest of the iPhone 17 series, are set to be unveiled.
