Algerian President switches out incumbent prime minister.

Algeria has seen a change in its government, with Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui being replaced by Sifi Ghrieb. The announcement was made by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Thursday.

The reasons behind this change in leadership are not yet clear. What is known is that the absence of Nadir Larbaoui from a recent meeting discussing a bus accident in Algeria drew attention and criticism on social media. The reason for his removal from the post of prime minister was not provided in the statement.

Sifi Ghrieb, who continues to hold his ministerial portfolio as Industry Minister, has been appointed as the interim prime minister. This is not the first time Ghrieb has held a senior position; he has served as board chairman at the Algerian Qatari Steel company and has held various other prominent roles.

Nadir Larbaoui, a former lawyer, held the post since November 2023. He has a background in diplomacy, representing Algeria as ambassador to several countries and to the United Nations.

The appointment of Sifi Ghrieb as interim prime minister follows the removal of Nadir Larbaoui. It marks the second change in Algeria's government in recent months, adding to the political uncertainty in the country.

Despite the lack of clarity regarding the reasons for the change in leadership, it is clear that Algeria's government is undergoing significant changes. The public and international community will be watching closely to see how these changes unfold.
