Valencia Fashion Week Association Gets a New Leader: Alex Vidal

After a period of change, the Valencia Fashion Week Association has a new leader. Alex Vidal, a renowned Valencian designer, has been chosen to preside over the association once again.

The decision was made following a voting process among professionals, where Alex Vidal received an impressive 97% majority of the votes. Out of the 33 professionals who voted, 30 showed their support for Alex Vidal.

Previously, the Valencia Fashion Week Association was presided by someone other than Alex Vidal. However, his initial decision not to run as a candidate was overturned, as he was proposed by his peers to lead the association and its events.

Criticism from other professionals about Alex Vidal's management had led to his decision not to run again. But it seems that his peers saw past any issues, recognising his expertise and passion for the fashion industry.

The Valencia Fashion Week Association has faced criticism about its management in the past. But with Alex Vidal at the helm, there is hope for a fresh start and improvements in the way the association is run.

It's worth noting that the Valencia Fashion Week no longer receives direct aid from the Valencia Regional Government's Economy Department. However, a PP amendment has ensured that the Valencia Fashion Week will receive 267,000 euros from the department.

The proposal for Alex Vidal to resume the chairmanship of the Valencia Fashion Week Association was made by Johnny Melero, and the decision was officially made in July 2023.

Alex Vidal's acceptance of the proposal marks a significant moment for the Valencia Fashion Week Association. With his extensive experience and deep-rooted connection to the city, he is well-positioned to lead the association and help it thrive.

As the Valencia Fashion Week Association moves forward under Alex Vidal's leadership, it will be interesting to see how he addresses any lingering issues and what new initiatives he will bring to the table.
