Alberta's iGaming Market Set to Launch in 2026 with $700M Potential

Alberta's population has now topped five million, with a median age of 38.1 years. The province is preparing to launch its regulated igaming market in spring or summer 2026, attracting major operators like Soft2Bet and DraftKings.

The Alberta government has set its sights on a thriving igaming sector. By FY 2026-27, the Alberta iGaming Corporation is forecast to bring in $75 million in revenue, rising to $109 million by FY 2028-29. Analysts at Citizens JMP Securities predict the market could eventually exceed $700 million in annual revenue.

Soft2Bet, the company behind the Ontario-facing ToonieBet brand, is now expanding into Alberta. The operator plans to tailor its offerings to local tastes, building on its existing Canadian experience. So far, only Soft2Bet and DraftKings have confirmed their entry into Alberta's market before its launch. Other well-known names like theScore and BetMGM are also expected to join. However, no additional operators have officially announced their plans for Alberta yet.

With a population of over five million and a mature market potentially worth over $700 million, Alberta's igaming sector is set for growth. The province's regulated framework will see Soft2Bet, DraftKings, and others competing for a share of the expanding industry.
