Alaska Commercial Company Opens New Store in Kotzebue
After two years of construction, Alaska Commercial Company (AC) has officially opened a new store in Kotzebue, Alaska, on November 16, 2024. The new store, located at [store address], is part of AC's commitment to providing groceries and general merchandise in the Northwest Arctic Borough for decades to come.
The new 26,000-square-foot store is larger than the previous one, boasting a modern, energy-efficient design. The space for chilled and frozen foods has doubled, offering a wider selection of fresh and frozen goods. The Produce Department showcases an enhanced selection, including more organic options, more made-in-store food, and a floral department offering bouquets and arrangements.
The store also features a Deli and Bakery department, offering fresh grab-and-go options, a full-service hot case, a variety of meats and cheeses, and freshly baked bread. For convenience, all food and general merchandise are now located on a single level.
Kyle Hill, President of Alaska Commercial Company, stated that the new store in Kotzebue was a significant investment for the company. The store is part of the AC network of stores around Alaska, which currently has thirty-seven locations.
The new store in Kotzebue also includes a motorsports department offering all-terrain vehicles and essential fluids. However, no further information about the department was provided. The store also houses a Credit Union 1 branch.
One of the most notable additions to the new store is the self-checkout stations, a first in Kotzebue. This feature aims to provide a more efficient and convenient shopping experience for customers.
Alaska Commercial Company is a subsidiary of Winnipeg-based The North West Company. The opening of the new store in Kotzebue marks another step in AC's mission to serve the communities of Alaska.
