With their time in Riga, basketball players have predominantly steered clear of court-related issues. However, this focus is about to shift. Given the infrequent opportunity to claim the title, it's now crucial to channel efforts towards basketball.

Aiming at Doncic: NBA star setting sights on semifinals

The German national basketball team is gearing up for their quarter-final match against Slovenia, scheduled for Wednesday at 8:00 PM. Despite the illness of head coach Alex Mumbru, he will remain with the team and be on the bench for the crucial encounter. His assistant, Alan Ibrahimagic, who led the team to five clear wins in the group stage in Tampere, Finland, will take charge.

Captain Schröder remains confident, stating that "we still believe in ourselves" despite not always having smooth games. The team is looking to regain momentum after experiencing disruptions in Riga. They will be aiming to pick up speed again, having beaten Slovenia twice in preparation, once with and once without Luka Doncic.

Doncic, a player on the Slovenian team, scored an impressive 42 points in the round of 16 against Italy, with 30 points in the first half. However, he seemed to run out of steam and appeared injured at times. The German team, however, is focusing on their own playing style, with Maodo Lo emphasising that even Doncic cannot win a game alone.

Ibrahimagic has highlighted the difference between the two teams: Germany has a deep bench, while Slovenia heavily relies on Doncic. The Slovenian team, it is suggested, will rely on Doncic to carry them alone in the quarter-final match against Germany, as the rest of the team lacks quality.

The match promises to be an exciting one, with the German team being the clear favourite after the elimination of the Serbs and French. The match will be broadcast on RTL and MagentaSport. The German team will be hoping to show their Tampere face again, having had problems with tempo and shooting against outsider Portugal in the round of 16.

As Mumbru remains on the bench, the team can count on Ibrahimagic's leadership and the collective strength of the squad to help them regain momentum and secure a place in the semi-finals. The focus remains on finding ways to beat the entire Slovenian team, not just Doncic, as the team looks to make history in EuroBasket 2025.
