Aigars Petrovs clinches poker title with a stunning double elimination

The final stages of a high-stakes poker tournament took a dramatic turn as Aigars Petrovs secured a decisive victory. With the bubble nearing, only three players remained before Petrovs eliminated two opponents in a single hand. The showdown ended with him claiming the title and leaving no competitors in the running.

The tension rose as Seyed Tabaei, holding K♠ K♥, limped in from the UTG position for 5,000—the Big Blind. Aigars Petrovs, in the Big Blind himself, then pushed all in, putting Tabaei at risk. Rene Cifuentes, with A♦ K♦, had already gone all in for 31,000 earlier in the hand.

The flop came **4♥ 5♣ 9♥**, keeping Tabaei in the lead with his pocket kings. Petrovs, holding **A♥ 9♦**, picked up a flush draw on the turn of **3♥**. Tabaei quickly called Petrovs' all-in, setting up a three-way showdown. The river delivered the **A♣**, giving Petrovs two pair—aces and nines—and the winning hand. His victory knocked out both Cifuentes and Tabaei simultaneously, sealing a double elimination. With no players left, Petrovs was crowned the tournament champion. The bubble had been closing in fast, but the swift conclusion left no chance for further eliminations.

Petrovs' win came down to a single critical hand where his two pair overtook both opponents. The double elimination ensured his uncontested victory, ending the tournament abruptly. No further play was needed, and the prize was his alone.
