Agriculture Startup Initiation and Global Trade Compliance Support by BHARATI

In a significant stride towards strengthening India's position as a global player in the agri-food sector, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has launched an innovative initiative called BHARATI. The programme, named 'Bharat's Hub for Agritech, Resilience, Advancement, and Incubation for Export Enablement', aims to boost India's agri-food exports to USD 50 billion by 2030.

The launch of BHARATI was overseen by Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, and was attended by key figures including the UAE's Minister of Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, and Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan. The meeting, though its location unspecified, marked a significant step towards forging stronger bilateral trade relationships.

The UAE, as a prime market for Indian agri-food exports, has shown great interest in BHARATI. The initiative emphasises developing resilience in India's export produce to meet the quality requirements of global buyers, a factor that aligns with the UAE's commitment to enhancing its agri-food sector.

BHARATI is designed to accelerate exports and foster innovation in India's agri-food sector. It aims to support 100 agri-food startups, a move that aligns with the government's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Startup India. One of the 100 startups supported by APEDA's BHARATI initiative has not been specifically named, with the initiative aiming to empower these startups starting September 2025, but no individual startup names have been publicly disclosed so far.

The trust shown by international players in India's ability to become an international hub for agri-food products is evident through their involvement in BHARATI. The partnership between India and the UAE is a step towards forging stronger bilateral trade relationships, a testament to the growing bilateral partnership efforts between India and its international trading partners.
