AG Reggia joins UNESCO's World Engineering Day 2025 promotional effort

The global engineering community is gearing up for World Engineering Day 2025 (WED), an international event jointly operated by UNESCO and the World Federation for Engineering Organizations (WFEO). The theme for this year's event is "Shaping Our Sustainable Future Through Engineering."

The launch of WED took place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 4 March 2025, with Jacques de Mereuil, Executive Director of the WFEO, expressing excitement about the upcoming day. Mustafa Shehu, President of the WFEO, also emphasised the event's objective to highlight engineering on a global scale and inspire the next generation to consider a career in engineering.

Agrumaria Reggina, an authority in citrus production, will play an integral part in the 12-month WED campaign. Sergio Ricciardi, the CEO of Agrumaria Reggina, has been selected as the official partner for the UNESCO World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2025. The collaboration between Agrumaria Reggina and WED aims to showcase the role of engineering in sustainable agriculture and the impact it has on the environment and communities.

The WED 2025 campaign, produced by the SJH Group, will feature events, films, articles, and news that highlight the achievements of engineers and the impact of engineering worldwide. All campaign content, including the partnership story with Agrumaria Reggina, can be accessed on the WED website at www.worldengineeringday.net.

Engineering is seen as a key player in meeting the UN's Sustainable Development Goal targets, according to Mustafa Shehu. The WED 2025 campaign is estimated to reach more than 100 million people globally, making it an excellent platform for showcasing the importance of engineering in creating a sustainable future.

Mustafa Shehu also mentioned that World Engineering Day 2025 intends to inspire the next generation to consider a career in engineering. With the launch of the WED 2025 campaign, it is an exciting time for the engineering community and a significant step towards shaping a sustainable future through engineering.
