Africa Unites to Standardize Gambling Rules in Landmark 2026 Conference Series
A new series of conferences on gambling regulation will launch in Africa next year. The events aim to standardise rules across the continent while improving consumer protection and business stability. The first gathering is set for Nairobi in early 2026. The Gambling Standards Harmonization Conferences will bring together regulators, operators, and national standards bodies. Organised by the International Gambling Standards Summit and the Association of Gaming Regulators in Africa, the meetings seek to create a unified regulatory approach.
The inaugural event runs from February 10 to 13, 2026, in Nairobi, Kenya. Discussions will focus on responsible gambling, stronger consumer safeguards, and a fairer business environment for operators. No specific agenda topics have been released yet, but organisers emphasise practical frameworks over abstract policy. Further conferences are already planned for March 16–19, 2027, in South Africa, and March 7–10, 2028, in West Africa. Each event will build on the previous one to refine standards and encourage regional cooperation.
The conferences mark the first major effort to align gambling regulations across African markets. By 2028, organisers expect clearer rules, better consumer protections, and a more predictable industry landscape. The first meeting in Nairobi will set the tone for future discussions.
