Affordable housing program initiated by Grosvenor targets young, vulnerable individuals

In a significant move, Grosvenor, a multi-national company, launched a new social enterprise called Grosvenor Hart Homes yesterday. The Duke of Westminster, who initiated the venture, aims to improve outcomes for vulnerable children, young people, and their families.

The social enterprise will invest significantly over the next 10 years, with plans to provide more than 750 homes and tailored intervention support, primarily in Chester, the North West, and central London. The first set of refurbished homes by Grosvenor Hart Homes were completed in Chester, and families are currently moving in.

The approach of Grosvenor Hart Homes is to establish a strong relationship between individuals in need of help and a dedicated Grosvenor family support professional. The role of these professionals is to address and coordinate individual needs, including unlocking the complexities of statutory support services and integrating them with additional help provided by Grosvenor Hart Homes.

The services offered by Grosvenor Hart Homes are designed to help vulnerable children, young people, and their families who are often caught in a spiral of temporary and unfit accommodation. The enterprise's model emphasizes the need to tailor and meticulously plan, prioritize, and coordinate services through a trusted and knowledgeable family support professional.

The social enterprise is focused on addressing three foundational blocks: providing high-quality affordable homes, support services for employment, and mental health and wellbeing support. Yesterday also marked the completion of a new community facility in Chester's city centre.

The Duke of Westminster believes that the provision of high-quality, safe, secure, and affordable homes must be paired with outcome-driven support services. He expressed hope that the innovative model of Grosvenor Hart Homes would empower families and young people to access life opportunities. The Duke launched the initiative in his hometown of Chester.

Support services provided by Grosvenor Hart Homes can be difficult to understand and engage with, especially for those who are most vulnerable or for people with language barriers. To simplify the process, the enterprise aims to partner with public sector organizations in Chester, with the goal of developing innovative approaches and a partnership model.

The ultimate goal of Grosvenor Hart Homes is to provide effective solutions that can be replicated elsewhere. The Duke of Westminster believes that these solutions can make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable families and young people, providing them with the support they need to break the cycle of temporary and unfit accommodation and access the opportunities they deserve.
