Dresden Airspace Area Celebration Day - Aerospace Event Held in Dresden
Next Thursday, the 19th Day of German Aerospace Regions will take place at Dresden Airport. This annual event, organised by the LRT, the competence center for Aerospace Technology in Saxony and Thuringia, aims to showcase the capabilities of the aerospace industry in these regions.
Over 300 representatives from politics, business, science, and research are anticipated to attend, including Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer and Thuringia's Minister of Economics Colette Boos-John (both CDU). The event's theme, "The future begins above - Strengthening aerospace, establishing sovereignty in space, securing defense capability," emphasises the importance of space travel in the modern world.
The LRT, which has 46 members, including research institutes, is collaborating with the Federal Association of the German Aerospace Industry for this significant gathering. The program includes lectures and an exhibition featuring exhibits from leading companies in the field.
One such company is Jena-Optronik GmbH, which specialises exclusively in space travel. Elbe Flugzeugwerke in Dresden, on the other hand, focuses solely on aviation. Meanwhile, the Swiss company Clearspace aims to collect space junk, addressing a key issue in space travel - the problem of space debris.
Thuringia and Saxony are making significant contributions to the field of space travel. Both regions maintain a joint competence center for the aerospace field, and around 160 companies and research institutions are active in the aerospace industry in Saxony alone. The head of this competence center, physicist Wolfgang Gรถhler, will no doubt play a key role in the event.
The Day of German Aerospace Regions is not just about showcasing what has been achieved, but also about looking to the future. It is a platform for discussing the technological solutions needed to address issues such as space debris, and for exploring the potential of space travel for strengthening Germany's sovereignty and defense capability.
So, join us next Thursday at Dresden Airport for a day of insightful lectures, exciting exhibitions, and a glimpse into the future of aerospace technology. The future begins above, and it starts here.
