The Aquazoo Loebbecke Museum is inviting the public to join the "Silent Forest Campaign" on 8 September, a two-year initiative aimed at protecting endangered songbird species in Asian rainforests. The action day, taking place from 10 am to 6 pm, will feature information stands and interactive activities for visitors of all ages.

As part of this Europe-wide campaign, there is a collection drive for old, discarded binoculars, which will continue until 10 September. The Aquazoo Loebbecke Museum, along with other participating zoos, will be accepting donated binoculars daily during these dates. The address for binocular donations is Kaiserswerther Straße 380.

The collected binoculars will be sent to Asia at the end of the campaign in September. In Asia, these binoculars can equip rangers and school classes for guided bird walks, aiding in the protection of these precious species.

Düsseldorf currently leads among all European zoos participating in the "Silent Forest Campaign" with 115 donated binoculars, followed closely by Zoo Copenhagen with over 100 donated binoculars. The Aquazoo Loebbecke Museum called for donations of old binoculars in January, and the public's response has been encouraging.

Deforestation for palm oil cultivation and illegal pet trading are significant threats to songbirds in Asian rainforests. The rarer the species, the higher the price for illegally captured songbirds. The "Silent Forest Campaign" seeks to combat these issues and ensure the survival of these beautiful creatures.

For more information about the "Silent Forest Campaign", visit www.silentforest.eu. The campaign is hosted by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria, and the Aquazoo Loebbecke Museum has been an active participant since the beginning of the year.

Join us at the Aquazoo Loebbecke Museum on 8 September for a day of action and education, and donate your old binoculars to help protect our feathered friends in the silent forests of Asia.
