Duncan Channon Appoints Kumi Croom as DEI Leader

Duncan Channon, an independent San Francisco-based agency, has made a significant move towards fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by appointing Kumi Croom as its first designated DEI leader.

In her new role, Croom will report directly to Duncan Channon CEO, Andy Berkenfield. She has been appointed as the director of collaboration and equity, a position created specifically for this purpose.

Croom's work will focus on embedding an inclusive, culturally-sensitive, and collaborative mindset in the creative work at Duncan Channon. Her responsibilities include equitable talent recruitment and retention, maintaining an inclusive culture, overseeing ongoing anti-racism education, and ensuring that the agency's work reflects the diverse perspectives of its team and clients.

Interestingly, Croom has been a key figure in the pre-existing DEI group at Duncan Channon, having helped establish it in 2019. She will now lead this group, working closely with the rest of the agency's DEI team and the director of talent, Allie Bart.

This appointment comes as Duncan Channon continues to prioritise DEI initiatives. Croom's role will involve overseeing ongoing anti-racism education for the agency, ensuring that it remains committed to creating a more equitable and inclusive work environment.

With this appointment, Duncan Channon has demonstrated its commitment to DEI, signalling a positive step forward in fostering a more diverse and inclusive agency culture.
