Adversaries Return, Laments Ebenezer Obey

In a heartfelt video shared on his Instagram page, the 83-year-old music icon, Ebenezer Obey, has once again refuted false rumours of his death. The video, which shows Obey singing with his two sons, was posted on Sunday.

Obey, who is currently residing in London, expressed his gratitude for being alive and attributed his survival to his faith in God. He stated that he did not suffer any stroke, as rumours online had suggested.

The rumours, which included showing coffins and photographs, were met with a firm denial by the veteran singer. Obey referred to the circulating rumours as lies spoken by his enemies and refuted them as the intention of the "kingdom of darkness."

This is not the first time Obey has had to address such false claims. In 2020 and April 2022, similar rumours circulated online, only to be debunked by the singer himself.

Upon arriving in London, Obey revealed that he saw a video online announcing his death and suggesting that he had suffered a stroke. He reiterated that these rumours are lies and emphasised that he is alive and well.

Obey also confirmed that he left Lagos and arrived in London on an unspecified date with his children. He did not provide any further details about his current plans or future projects.

Despite the ongoing rumours, there is no publicly verified information about the person spreading false information about Obey's death.

Ebenezer Obey, born in 1938, is a Nigerian highlife and juju musician who has had a significant impact on the Nigerian music industry. His career spans over six decades, and he is often referred to as the "Evangelist of Highlife Music."
