Aditya Birla Housing Finance secures ₹830 crore to empower women and affordable housing
Aditya Birla Housing Finance Limited has secured Rs 830 crore in funding from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The investment will support affordable housing loans and boost financial access for women-led businesses.
The partnership aims to expand financial inclusion in India's housing and micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sectors, with a focus on underserved communities. The funds will primarily provide housing loans to low-income and middle-income groups. A key priority is increasing homeownership among women, alongside broader support for affordable housing.
A portion of the investment will also go towards MSMEs, particularly those led by women. As of 2026, Aditya Birla Housing Finance has already assisted over 1.2 million women through housing finance and microfinance programmes in both rural and urban areas.
Pankaj Gadgil, the company's MD & CEO, described the collaboration with IFC as a significant step in promoting financial inclusion and equitable growth. He added that the firm remains committed to offering inclusive home financing solutions for a smoother loan experience.
Wendy Werner, IFC's Country Head for India and Maldives, highlighted the importance of a strong housing sector and better financial access for MSMEs. She noted that these efforts are vital for India's sustainable development.
The partnership also seeks to strengthen the role of the private sector in expanding housing and MSME financing. By working with leading players, the initiative aims to create more opportunities for women within the financial system. The Rs 830 crore funding will help Aditya Birla Housing Finance extend affordable loans and support women entrepreneurs. The initiative targets long-term economic inclusion by improving access to housing and business finance.
Through this collaboration, IFC and Aditya Birla Housing Finance plan to reach more underserved communities while fostering growth in key sectors.
