Adidas' LA Trainer Already Secured as the Shoe for the 2028 Olympics, Barely Three Years Ahead of Schedule
The sports apparel giant, Adidas, has announced the re-release of the iconic Adidas LA Trainer, a sneaker that first made its debut at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. This time around, the shoe is being manufactured in the USA, a move that aligns with the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
The new Adidas LA Trainer boasts a design that closely resembles the original, featuring a 'Dark Marine' mesh base and a 'Preloved Violet' suede overlay. The outsole is made from grippy rubber, providing stability for various activities, while the midsole is crafted from plush EVA foam. A unique feature of the new design is the heel, which sports three colored plugs in red, white, and blue, allowing individuals to fine-tune the cushioning to their comfort.
The midsole also features a pre-yellowed, pre-distressed finish, adding to the sneaker's vintage appeal. The Three Stripes and heel of the new Adidas LA Trainer are overlaid with 'Silver Metallic' leather, further enhancing its classic look.
The Adidas LA Trainer 'Made in USA' will retail for £220, a price higher than its usual retail price of £90. Despite this, the shoe is expected to sell out due to its iconic status and the upcoming Olympic Games.
Interestingly, the Adidas SL 72, often referred to as the "Samba killer," was first released in 1972, and like the Adidas LA Trainer, it is also an Olympics-themed sneaker that has been re-released. The pricing and release date for the Adidas SL 72 are not provided in this announcement.
The Adidas LA Trainer 'Made in USA' will be available at Adidas, the Confirmed app, and select stockists globally from September 1. The popularity of the Adidas LA Trainer, as seen in the past with celebrities like Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski wearing the Adidas SL 72, is expected to continue with this re-release.
