Actor Wotan Wilke Möhring replaces Elton in the show "Who Knows?"
New Captain for Popular German Quiz Show "Wer weiß denn sowas?"
After a successful 11th season, the popular German quiz show "Wer weiß denn sowas?" is set to return with new episodes in October. The ARD program director has announced that Wotan Wilke Möhring, a renowned German actor and musician, will be taking on the role of the new team captain.
Möhring, best known for his roles in the northern German "Tatort" crime series and films like "Männerherzen" and "Das Experiment," has been a guest on "Wer weiß denn sowas?" several times before. His popularity and extensive knowledge make him a perfect fit for the team captain role.
Bernhard Hoecker, the quizmaster and veteran on "Wer weiß denn sowas?," welcomes Möhring to the team. Hoecker offers advice to the new captain, encouraging them to have fun and not worry about maintaining their position. After all, the nature of the entertainment-focused show means that the new captain will not face undue pressure to perform.
Kai Pflaume, host of the show, considered Möhring to be the preferred candidate from the start. Möhring brings "humor, knowledge, ambition, and a lot of enthusiasm" to the team captain role. He is described as a "super sympathetic person with heart."
Möhring will be the second team captain, joining Hoecker. The average market share for the 11th season was 20.2 percent in the total audience and 14.6 percent in the 20-49 age group, demonstrating the show's consistent popularity.
The new episodes of "Wer weiß denn sowas?" will start airing from October 13th, weekdays at 6 pm on the first channel. On Saturdays before at 8:15 pm, there will also be "Wer weiß denn sowas XXL."
Elton, a previous team member, left the quiz show in April to have more time for personal matters. Möhring is excited for "a lot of new knowledge, funny questions, and plenty of fun."
