Actor from Downton Abbey unveils growing baby bump

In the grand tradition of the beloved "Downton Abbey" franchise, real-life events have intertwined with the fictional world of the Crawleys. Julian Fellowes, the creator of the series, has written the pregnancies of Michelle Dockery and Joanne Froggatt into the plot of the third film, "Downton Abbey: A New Era."

For Dockery, who has played Lady Mary Crawley since the first episode in 2010, the film marks a departure from the character's distant relationship with her child, a trait that has been a staple of the series due to the time period and Lady Mary's aristocratic status. Dockery, in real life, has a different view on children, a sentiment she expressed in 2014.

The father of Dockery's unborn child is her husband, Jasper Waller-Bridge, who is also known as the younger brother of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator of "Fleabag." The couple has been married since September 2023 and is expecting their first child together. Dockery debuted her baby bump at the UK premiere of "Downton Abbey: A New Era," held at Leicester Square in London, where she wore a powder blue, strapless ball gown.

Froggatt, who plays Anna Bates in "Downton Abbey," is also expecting her second child. She revealed that Fellowes "kindly worked her pregnancy into the plot because it was quite obvious at that stage." This is not the first time pregnancies have been incorporated into the series; Froggatt's first child was born during the filming of the final season of the series.

"Downton Abbey: A New Era" is the third film in the franchise and will conclude the story that began with the popular series. The film is set to be released in German cinemas on September 18. With the addition of these real-life pregnancies, fans can expect an emotional and dramatic conclusion to the saga of the Crawleys and their servants.
