Achievement unlocked: Another significant accomplishment has been attained

In the heart of Hürth-Hermülheim, a significant milestone in the further development of the neighbourhood is upon us. The demolition of the AOK building, a key part of the urban development project "Luxury Corridor", is set to commence between late April and early May 2025.

The demolition process will proceed meticulously, floor by floor, from the top of the building, down to the top of the basement. This careful approach ensures maximum consideration for the environment and residents, with minimal disruptions. No additional road closures beyond the existing closure of Luxemburger Straße are necessary.

The demolition will solely occur on the property itself, and potentially hazardous materials have been identified and documented in advance. These materials will be disposed of properly and separately to maintain safety and environmental standards.

Before the demolition begins, a public auction will be held for the remaining furniture and fixtures. Meanwhile, selected materials such as gratings, sheet metal elements, bricks, windows, and benches will be provided for a research project in cooperation with RWTH Aachen.

Once the demolition is complete, a new building, along with a plaza featuring a water feature, plenty of greenery, and high-quality amenities, will rise from the cleared site. The goal is to complete this transformation by the end of September 2025, marking another significant step in the evolution of this neighbourhood as part of the Luxury Corridor project.

A combination of machinery and manual labour will be used during the demolition to minimize vibrations. The demolition work will be carried out by a yet-to-be-named company or person, overseeing this important phase of the Luxury Corridor development.
