Acer's latest Predator gaming monitor features a speedy 720 Hz OLED display, capable of catering to 720p gaming, and additionally, it supports native 1440p at a fast 540 Hz, on a 27-inch panel.
In the world of gaming, Acer has made a significant splash at IFA 2025 with the announcement of four new Nitro gaming monitors. These cutting-edge displays are designed to cater to the needs of gamers seeking high-speed, high-resolution, and visually stunning gaming experiences.
Leading the pack is the Predator X27U F8, a 26.5-inch OLED monitor boasting a native QHD resolution and an astounding native 540 Hz refresh rate. This makes it one of the fastest gaming monitors on the market, capable of delivering smooth, lag-free gameplay even in the most demanding scenarios.
The Predator X27U F8 also boasts a 0.03 ms response time, ensuring that every movement on the screen is rendered instantly. Its contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1 and peak brightness of 1,500 nits (with a 1.5 percent window) further enhance its visual prowess, offering deep blacks, vibrant colours, and stunningly bright images.
Acer has priced the Predator X27U F8 at $1,299 and plans to launch it in Q1 2026. Interestingly, if the resolution is reduced to 1280 x 720, a maximum refresh rate of 720 Hz is achievable (if the hardware can handle it), making it an attractive option for competitive gamers.
Joining the Predator X27U F8 are three other Nitro monitors, all featuring 27-inch panels. The Nitro XV275K V6 sports a 4K IPS panel, a maximum refresh rate of 180 Hz, and a 1 ms response time. The Nitro XV273U W1 offers a native 2560 x 1440 resolution at 240 Hz via DisplayPort, with an overclock function that increases the refresh rate slightly to 275 Hz. The Nitro XV270X, on the other hand, uses an atypical 5120 x 2880 resolution and a 72 Hz refresh rate, but can be increased to 144 Hz if the resolution is dropped to 2560 x 1440.
The Nitro XV270X's 27-inch IPS panel has a native contrast ratio of 2,000:1 and a peak brightness of 400 nits. If the resolution is dropped to 2560 x 1080, the maximum refresh rate jumps to 288 Hz.
Last but not least, the largest Nitro monitor, the Nitro XZ403CKR, is a 39.7-inch beast with a 1000R curve and a VA panel. It offers a 5120 x 2160 resolution and a 180 Hz refresh rate, maintainable across HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C interfaces. The Nitro XZ403CKR also offers an 8-bit panel with a typical brightness of 350 nits and covers 95 percent of DCI-P3.
In a surprising turn of events, Acer itself is the manufacturer of the OLED gaming monitor with a maximum refresh rate of 540 Hz announced by the company. Given LG's leadership in OLED tech and the company announcing its monitor first, it's likely that the Predator X27U F8 uses an LG panel.
Both LG and Asus have announced monitors with seemingly identical specs to the Predator X27U F8, making for an interesting competitive landscape in the high-refresh-rate gaming monitor market. These new Nitro monitors from Acer are sure to excite gamers and tech enthusiasts alike, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in gaming display technology.
