Abandoned Pets Destined for Cremation Discovered in Rental Space, According to Police Reports

In a shocking turn of events, the Colorado Springs Police Department has confirmed finding dead pets intended for cremation in a storage unit at Extra Space Storage. The storage unit, it seems, is rented by an individual named Marcus Williams, who is known to run a pet cremation service.

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is currently working to identify the returned dogs. Unfortunately, the pets were not frozen or refrigerated and were decomposed, making them barely recognizable. The Humane Society plans to contact affected families directly and recommends those who believe their pet was impacted to contact the veterinary clinic or facility where pet aftercare arrangements were made.

The discovery was made following a report of a suspected dead body smell coming from the storage unit next to another one. Officers received permission to enter the storage unit for investigation and found the bodies of the pets in a cooler inside.

It's important to note that at this time, the Colorado Springs Police Department considers this incident as not a criminal investigation. However, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has confirmed the unit is connected to individual Marcus Williams.

Dr. Melissa Vollaire of Transitions Veterinary Service in Colorado Springs had a partnership with Marcus Williams for pet cremation services. After terminating services, Dr. Vollaire received at least six uncremated dogs from Williams. Concerned pet owners, a Colorado Springs veterinarian, and viewers have reported the name Marcus Williams to KKTV.

Dr. Vollaire terminated her partnership with Williams in August due to several red flags. The Humane Society is now working diligently to identify the returned dogs and contact the affected families. They urge anyone who has recently used pet cremation services provided by Marcus Williams to come forward and confirm if their pet was among those found.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of choosing reputable pet care services. The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region advises pet owners to thoroughly research any service before entrusting them with the care of their beloved pets.
