A3 Highway Closed Northward Following Commercial Vehicle Accident in Siebengebirge
In the early hours of this morning, a significant incident occurred on the A3 northbound near the Bad Honnef/Linz interchange. A truck carrying electrical equipment collided with the concrete median barrier, overturned, and blocked all three lanes.
The left lane in the direction of Frankfurt is currently closed due to damage to the median barrier, and traffic is being diverted at the Bad Honnef/Linz interchange. This has caused congestion on alternate routes, as motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes if possible.
The cleanup operation continues due to a diesel spill, complicating the process. The truck driver was taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries is not yet known. There are no indications of any other vehicles involved in the accident.
The A3 is currently closed in the direction of Cologne at the Bad Honnef/Linz exit. The closure is due to the truck accident that occurred overnight, and it is estimated to remain closed until approximately 2 PM.
The cause of the truck overturning is still under investigation. It is worth noting that the electrical equipment being transported was not hazardous.
Motorists are reminded to exercise caution and patience as they navigate alternate routes, and to check for updates on the situation before setting out on their journeys. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
