A suspended swimming pool is slated to be installed between two structures in the heart of London

The Sky Pool, a unique swimming pool suspended 25 meters in the air, is set to open on May 19th. This transparent pool will be located between two apartment buildings in the Nine Elms neighbourhood of London, near the Thames.

Designed by Embassy Gardens in collaboration with Hal Currey, Arup Associates, and Eckersley O'Callaghan, the Sky Pool is the world's first 'floating' swimming pool. It will hang 25 meters in the air between two residential buildings, offering swimmers a thrilling experience of gliding between buildings.

The Sky Pool's dimensions and design were determined after technical drawings and behavioural analyses. It is 25 meters long and 14 meters wide, designed to be spanned by an acrylic structure. The acrylic pool's sides are 200mm thick, and it is 3.2 meters deep and 300mm thick at the bottom, weighing a hefty 50 tonnes.

Steps and filtration systems will be located at either end of the Sky Pool. The pool's transparency allows swimmers to look right down and people below to see the sky, adding to its magical feeling.

The Sky Pool's transportation to Embassy Gardens will require careful planning. If it is transported by road, traffic lights and bollards will need to be removed. If transported by river, Nine Elms Lane will need to be closed for the day to lift it from the Thames.

Members of the Eg:le Club of Embassy Gardens will have exclusive access to the Sky Pool. The pool will also feature five modes of lighting to further enhance its magical ambience.

The idea for the Sky Pool originated from discussions about the location of Embassy Gardens' outdoor swimming pool. The company Arup contributed to the development of this innovative swimming pool, ensuring its structural integrity and safety.

The Sky Pool is a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of its designers and a unique addition to the London skyline. Prepare to dive into a new swimming experience when the Sky Pool opens on May 19th.
