A restaurant named Javier's, modeled after cathedrals, in downtown Los Angeles, serves a divine interpretation of Mexican cuisine.

Javier's, an upscale Mexican restaurant, is a culinary gem nestled in the bustling downtown Los Angeles. Located at 1200 Figueroa St, Unit C, Los Angeles, CA 90015, United States, the restaurant is a must-visit for food lovers seeking an authentic and exquisite dining experience.

The restaurant, designed by architect and designer Gulla Jónsdóttir, boasts a design inspired by historic Mexican churches, reinterpreted through a modern lens. The entrance features a soaring wood cathedral arch framing the bar, while the interior showcases hand-trowelled plaster, natural stone, aged metals, and soft, sun-washed tones.

As you step inside, you'll find the bar set opposite whimsical white leather barstools that resemble organ keys. The bar offers the house-brand Cristalino Añejo Margarita, an excellent choice to kickstart your dining journey.

Javier's is known for its exceptional steaks, particularly the exclusive centre-cut prime Angus beef from Omaha, Nebraska. However, the menu also features a variety of seafood dishes, with sustainably-sourced options from Santa Monica Seafood and the Baja coast taking centre stage. A trio of fresh crudo (ahi tuna, octopus, and shrimp) is offered on the menu, providing a tantalising taste of the ocean.

Enchiladas, including Dungeness crab and Maine lobster varieties, are a standout feature on the menu. For a sweet finale, the tangy guava fruit cheesecake topped with whipped cream is a popular choice among diners.

The restaurant also offers clusters of plant-shrouded banquettes for group seating for full meals on sleek white leather tabletops. The 'altar' area at the rear of Javier's features dimly lit sectional seating, private dining rooms with long communal tables, and an intimate back bar.

Javier's DTLA is situated in a lively, action-packed grid in downtown Los Angeles. It is directly across the street from the Crypto Arena and just around the corner from the Moxy Hotel, making it an ideal destination for pre- or post-event dining.

In addition to its extensive selection of tequilas and mezcals, Javier's also offers a wide range of dishes inspired by various regions of Mexico, ensuring a diverse and authentic dining experience for all. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Javier's DTLA is a restaurant worth exploring.
