A minimalistic color scheme may not excite everyone, but this captivating Scandinavian-style coastal residence is certain to change your mind...

In the quaint town of West Wittering, West Sussex, a five-bedroom Georgian beach house underwent a remarkable transformation, thanks to its new owner, Lisa. The Houses Editor of a popular platform, Tiffany Jow, has documented this journey, and here's what you can expect.

Lisa, having moved into the property last year, began her renovation by finishing an extension that was previously a leaky conservatory. The extension, designed with as much glass as the budget allowed, serves to maximize light and offers a striking contrast to the rest of the house, which is the only room with colour.

Initially, Lisa painted all rooms in plain white emulsion with the intention of adding colour later. However, she soon found herself drawn to the pared-back monochrome look. This minimalist approach is evident in the loft room, completed about five years ago, which features a lovely and natural finish due to the use of clay plaster.

The loft room, devoid of conventional storage built into the eaves, boasts a minimalist design to keep things simple and liveable. It also has a unique feature - 10 windows at the back, providing a panoramic view of the garden, but no windows facing the street.

In the living room, a white sofa with removable covers adds a touch of comfort, while the absence of blinds or curtains allows the room to bask in natural light. Lisa's love for glass extends beyond the extension, as she also sells glass lighting in her online store, Design Vintage.

The house's transformation didn't stop at the interior. A covered garden decking area was recently added in a peaceful corner of the garden, perfect for al fresco dining. For those who enjoy a good pizza, Lisa even added a pizza-making area, a popular feature when renting out the house on Airbnb.

Lisa's minimalist approach extends to her homeware store, Design Vintage, where she offers a curated collection of items that complement her home's understated elegance. Whether you're looking to add a touch of modern simplicity to your own space or simply admire the transformation, Lisa's home is a testament to the power of minimalist design.
