Man (53) continued shopping following the crime. - A member of the Alternative for Germany party was assaulted in a grocery store.
Two more incidents of violence against elected officials have been reported in Saxony: Mario Kumpf, a member of the state parliament for AfD, was shopping in Ebersbach-Neugersdorf (Görlitz district) when he got punched in the face. The assailant reportedly kept shopping after the attack. Authorities are currently investigating.
Meanwhile, left-wing city councillor Elisa Grobe from Limbach-Oberfrohna (Zwickau district) had her home targeted with several stones thrown through a window. State security is looking into the incident.
One arrest made in attack on Kumpf

In Ebersbach on Wednesday, a man assaulted AfD politician Mario Kumpf in the Rewe supermarket at around 1.15 pm. The attack prompted Kumpf to alert the police, who quickly arrested a 53-year-old German man. He's now being charged with assault. The motive for the attack is unknown, though AfD Saxony believes it's politically motivated.
Grobe's home vandalized

It was reported last week that fist-sized stones were thrown at Elisa Grobe's house in Limbach-Oberfrohna, resulting in a broken window. The incident occurred over Pentecost, around Sunday night. There've been more disturbances since then - on Tuesday night, more stones were thrown through an open window. Shouts of "Sieg Heil" allegedly come from outside the house.
Police are investigating whether the same individuals who vandalized Grobe's house also burned down a rainbow flag at a company premises. Several similar attacks on politicians have happened in recent weeks, including an assault on SPD MEP Matthias Ecke in Dresden that made national headlines.
