A Magic Spectacle with a Green Twist Makes Its Way to the Sin City: Las Vegas
Ben Zabin abandoned his college education midway to chase his passion for magic. However, his magic career didn't take off, so he switched to selling marijuana instead. Fast forward, he's blending his two passions into one exciting venture.
Zabin, age 24, is now the mastermind behind "Smokus Pocus," a unique magic show with a cannabis twist. This show has secured a two-week run at AREA15 in Las Vegas, running daily at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from April 15 to June 15.
If you get why tickets for April 20 are selling faster than other dates, you're the ideal audience for this show.
Zabin came up with this concept in May 2021, refining it through performances in Portland, Oregon, before touring it across the US for 14 months.
"Why not let people's minds get blown by magic and their minds expand through weed?" Zabin explained in a press release. "The audience always seems so engaged, making it a fantastic experience for everyone, whether they're high or sober."
Smoke Tricks and Mirrors
As the world's first magician prioritizing weed, Zabin, a resident of Greenwich, Connecticut, where recreational marijuana is legal, showcases tricks involving making items disappear and reappear within bags of his preferred cannabis strain.
"Some people arrive high and leave bewildered, but the show appeals to both the stoned and the sober," Zabin added in the press release, which unusually includes the following advice: "Cannabis products will not be sold, and their consumption is prohibited within the venue."
Final High
For transparency, Zabin uses real marijuana in his act and generously so. Lucky attendees might even take a bit of it home with them. That's why tickets, priced between $30-$45, are restricted to adults aged 21 and above.
