A City Designated as Host for the ASEAN Expo Announced

The 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) is set to take place in Nanning, Guangxi, on September 17. This annual event serves as a significant platform for Thai companies to expand their presence in the regional market.

Organisers anticipate significant agreements will be signed during the CAEXPO, underscoring China's push to deepen economic ties with ASEAN. The exhibition has evolved to drive cross-border investment and technology partnerships, as stated by Wei Chaohui, secretary-general of the Expo secretariat.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), the green economy, and electric vehicles are key areas of collaboration at the CAEXPO. AI will be prominently featured at the event, alongside sustainable development and supply chain integration.

The ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Collaborative Innovation Centre has been set up in Guangxi to promote joint research and nurture regional innovation. This centre is expected to play a crucial role in fostering AI collaboration between China and ASEAN countries.

Guangxi's strategic location allows for expertise sharing in AI with ASEAN states, particularly Myanmar and Laos. This is particularly beneficial for AI companies like Maiyue Technology, a Guangxi-based AI company, which is marketing hardware and software solutions in ASEAN. Maiyue Technology has developed tools supporting regional languages, including Thai, Khmer, and Burmese, strengthening its unique capabilities in the region.

Southeast Asia is the primary market for Maiyue Technology, positioning it well for the CAEXPO. The event features participation from ASEAN countries including Thailand, with platforms such as the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Collaborative Innovation Center showcasing 16 ASEAN companies to expand their presence in the regional market.

However, specific names of Thai companies attending the 22nd CAEXPO are not listed in the available sources. Despite this, the event promises to be a significant opportunity for Thai businesses looking to expand their regional footprint.

Notably, the 22nd CAEXPO continues independently of global trade tensions, demonstrating its importance as a neutral platform for regional economic cooperation. With over 1,600 companies from 40 countries, including 470 international firms, expected to participate, the 22nd CAEXPO is poised to be a vibrant showcase of cross-border collaboration and innovation.
