Bendl Construction Celebrates 80 Years of Sustainable Growth

Bendl Construction, based in Günzburg, is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. Founded by Margot and Harry Bendl in 1975, the company has grown significantly over the years, becoming a key player in the construction industry.

The company's early years were marked by a challenging economic environment, with high inflation, low demand, and difficult conditions. However, an order from the city of Günzburg for sewer work provided the crucial starting impetus for the young company. Gradually, the areas "external facilities" and "turnkey construction" became fixed components of the portfolio, contributing to the company's growth.

In the 1980s, Bendl Construction made significant strides, building the first ready-mixed concrete plant in the region and establishing an own gravel pit. These moves solidified the company's position in the industry. Harry Bendl also established the department "Bauschnelldienst" within a year of the company's founding, which still handles small repair and construction orders today.

Under the leadership of Stefan Wiedemann, a visionary within Bendl Construction, the company has set new standards in the industry with thoughtful concepts, regional renewable materials, strong partnerships, and a dedicated team of 190 employees. The company is committed to the economy for the common good, moving away from a purely profit-oriented approach.

Sustainable building does not have to be more expensive or complicated, according to Bendl Construction. The company invests in research on sustainable building materials and innovative techniques, such as constructing with paludal materials (plant-based materials like reeds and bulrushes). This commitment to sustainability is also evident in the "Cube", a building made entirely of non-metallic reinforced concrete, a result of the cooperation between Bendl Construction and its sister company, bendl HTS.

Bendl Construction and bendl HTS have been engaged in the development of sustainable construction systems and building materials for decades. The new planning office, "kreaplan", under the Bendl umbrella, will be officially launched during the open house. It will operate independently and cater to each client's specific needs, regardless of whether they will build with Bendl.

The company's 80th anniversary is being celebrated with a large employee event on July 19 and an open house on July 20, inviting guests from various sectors. More information about the 80th anniversary celebrations can be found at www.bendl.de/80jahre. The successor to the board of Bendl HTS was not publicly specified.

Peter Finkel, who began a dual study program at Bendl Construction 15 years ago and has been a managing director since 2021, now oversees the technical and commercial operations. Under his leadership, the company continues to focus on the development of sustainable construction systems and building materials, as demonstrated by their work with paludal materials.

As Bendl Construction looks towards the future, it remains committed to its roots, continuing to set new standards in the industry with its sustainable and innovative approaches to construction.
