A Celebration at the Hanseatic Event

The Neuss Hanse Festival, typically celebrated from the 19th to the 20th of September, 2020, will not follow its usual format. However, it will still occur in the heart of Neuss's city center.

A Celebration at the Hanseatic Event

In a surprising turn of events, the Neuss Hanse Festival will not be held in its traditional form from September 19-20. Instead, the city centre will be open for a special shopping event on Sunday, September 20.

This shopping extravaganza is the brainchild of Neuss Marketing and the Zukunftsinitiative Neuss (ZIN). The event promises a unique shopping experience, with stores open from 1 to 6 pm.

If you're interested in keeping up with the vibrant social developments, culinary arts, art, and culture in Neuss, subscribing to the city's free newsletter is the way to go. The newsletter provides in-depth information and is not spam, as stated in the privacy policy. To confirm your subscription, check your inbox or spam folder.

Meanwhile, the Hanse spirit is not being left behind. On September 19, Mayor Reiner Breuer sent off the first "travel group" of the Rheinische Jugendhanse's bike journey along the Hanse route. The group consists of Rachid Hamdaoui (from Neuss), Janik Houben (Emmerich am Rhein), and Alex Winkelmann (Wesel).

Unfortunately, the name of the fourth rider boarding in Wesel remains unknown. However, Xenia Fritzler from Kalkar will join the bike journey in Wesel. The Rheinische Jugendhanse has attempted to connect the Lower Rhine Hanse towns of Neuss, Wesel, Kalkar, and Emmerich am Rhein, as well as Dutch Hanse towns, through this bike journey.

Mayor Breuer also sent off the cyclists, expressing his belief that they will manage their long journey and promote the idea of the Hanse.

In addition to the shopping event, the Historical City Views unearthed by ZIN will be on display in the pagoda tents on Sunday from 12 to 6 pm. Visitors can enjoy these exhibits while maintaining a safe distance.

Six Hanse towns will be present in these tents on the lower market: Neuss, Kalkar, Wesel, Emmerich, Salzwedel, and Brilon. It's an opportunity to learn more about these towns and immerse yourself in the Hanse culture.

So, whether you're a shopping enthusiast or a history buff, mark your calendars for Sunday, September 20, and head to the city centre of Neuss for a day filled with shopping, history, and Hanse culture!
