On a Wednesday morning (08.05.24), Federal Police officers performed a routine check on a Bulgarian national at the Weil am Rhein - Autobahn border crossing. To their surprise, the 55-year-old man was wanted for not paying a fine of 1800 euros that had been imposed on him. Since he couldn't come up with the money to sort things out, he was arrested right there on the spot.

Once detained, the man was driven to a prison by the Federal Police to serve a 60-day substitute custodial sentence.
