Sad mishap occurs - A 61-year-old man plunges 15 meters off a rock and perishes.

A tragic accident occurred at the "Blauer Stein" climbing spot located between trees and hills in a forest between Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig and Gehlberg in Suhl, Thuringia. On a Tuesday evening, the tranquility of the area was shattered. Two men were there to scale the rock.

Fatal Mishap

Around 7 p.m., a 61-year-old man was attempting to conquer the Blauer Stein with his friend. Inexplicably, the climber lost his footing and plummeted about 15 meters. Immediately, help arrived on the scene from the mountain rescue service. Alas, the rescuers couldn't save the man; his injuries seemed too severe.

"Tragically, despite rapid rescue efforts, the man passed away at the scene of the accident," confirmed a police spokesperson.

The 61-year-old was a skilled amateur sports enthusiast, as confirmed by the Allzunah mountain rescue service. The volunteers also tended to the injured climber's companion until the crisis intervention team showed up.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident. The criminal investigation department is involved as well. Presently, it's presumed to be a mishap, the spokesperson added. We're still unclear about the details. The rescue operation ended for them around 11.55 p.m.
