2026 WSOPE Returns to Prague with €10M Main Event and New Player Race

The 2026 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) kicks off in Prague on March 31. This year's event marks the return of the prestigious tournament to a new location, offering players a fresh setting and a €10 million guaranteed prize pool in the Main Event. The series will also introduce a new Player of the Year race with $1 million in prizes up for grabs. The WSOPE first launched in 2007 in London, where Thomas Bihl claimed the opening title in the £2,500 HORSE event by defeating Jennifer Harman. That same year, Annette Obrestad took down the Main Event, securing her place in poker history. The early years saw unique challenges, including limited space—legendary player Doyle Brunson even competed in an upstairs gallery during the inaugural event due to overcrowding on the tournament floor.

The series later moved to Rozvadov in 2017, hosted by King's Casino, where participation peaked at 817 entries in 2023. However, the WSOPE took breaks in 2014 and 2016, alternating with the WSOP Asia-Pacific during those years. For 2026, the schedule begins at noon local time on March 31, with the Main Event running from April 3 to 10. Players will have three starting days and two re-entries allowed, adding flexibility to the competition. Alongside the tournaments, the series will launch the WSOP Player of the Year race, counting the top 15 live results from WSOPE, WSOP Vegas, and WSOP Paradise for a share of $1 million in prizes. Prague provides a lively backdrop for the event, blending rich history with modern entertainment for attendees exploring the city between games.

The 2026 WSOPE promises high-stakes action with its €10 million Main Event guarantee and a revamped Player of the Year competition. Running from March 31 to April 10, the series brings together top players in a new European host city. The tournament's return to Prague sets the stage for another memorable chapter in poker history.
