Emmy Nominations 2025: A Look at the Top Contenders

The 2025 Emmy Awards are gearing up to be a star-studded event, with numerous television shows and actors receiving recognition for their exceptional work over the past year. Here's a rundown of some of the most notable nominations across various categories.

In the drama series category, Severance has emerged as a favourite, with nominations for Outstanding Drama Series and several acting awards, including Adam Scott for Outstanding Lead Actor, Britt Lower and Patricia Arquette for Outstanding Lead Actress, Zach Cherry and John Turturro for Outstanding Supporting Actor, and Tramell Tillman for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Another drama series making waves is The White Lotus, with nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, as well as nods for acting talent such as Jennifer Coolidge, Sam Rockwell, and Aimee Lou Wood.

In the comedy series category, Abbott Elementary and The Bear are among the top contenders. Quinta Brunson and Ayo Edebiri are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress, while Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, and Liza Colón-Zayas are in the running for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

Nobody Wants This and The Studio are also in the running for Outstanding Comedy Series, with Kristen Bell and Seth Rogen receiving nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor.

The limited or anthology series category is equally competitive, with Presumed Innocent and Adolescence leading the pack. Jake Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor, while Ruth Negga and Chloë Sevigny are in the running for Outstanding Supporting Actress. Adolescence, a British series, has received 13 nominations in total, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, but as of now, it has only won the Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Other notable nominations include Gary Oldman for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Slow Horses, Rashida Jones for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Black Mirror, and Bella Ramsey for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for The Last of Us.
