1962 Jaguar E-Type has Undergone Restoration with Le Mans-inspired Amenities and Advanced Technical Upgrades.
Restored 1962 Jaguar E-Type FHC Hits the Market for $250,000
A spectacularly restored 1962 Jaguar E-Type FHC is now up for sale, thanks to a modernization project undertaken by its owner, known as the "Surgeon." The classic car, which has been meticulously restored in 2022, is available for purchase via Schaltkulisse, with a price tag of $250,000, from Miami.
The body of the car has undergone a thorough transformation. It was stripped down, bead-blasted, and repainted in Opalescent Silver Gray. To enhance its performance, a lightweight aluminum fabricated bonnet, popular in Le Mans racing, was added. The restoration was handled by Jaguar Master Engineer David Ferguson.
Under the hood, the engine was completely rebuilt and upgraded. It now boasts a performance cylinder head, Delong Sport cams, 9:1 compression, a lightened flywheel, and electronic ignition. The gearbox was rebuilt and mated to the new 4.2-liter inline-six engine, a feature not found on XK models until 1964. Most other engine upgrades were done to better optimize the 4.2L. The brakes and suspension were also upgraded, and a Big Bear exhaust was installed.
Inside, the dashboard gauge cluster includes water temperature and manual oil pressure indicators. For safety, all seats are compatible with new three-point inertia safety belts. The car is equipped with modern amenities such as rally trip computers, tire pressure sensors, a modern stereo, and a satellite navigation display. An aluminum radiator cooling fan and an air-conditioning switch are mounted to the top of the steering wheel, which features a Moto Lito steering wheel with power steering.
The 1962 Jaguar XK E-Type FHC comes with both the original bucket-style seats and the more comfortable seats from later 4.2 models. The vehicle also has an unspecified power output and approximately 3,900 miles on the clock.
The E-Type FHC was a barn find in northern California, dismantled 25 years ago but never finished. The Surgeon, who has extensive Jaguar knowledge and has owned and built about a half-dozen Jaguars, including a trio of XKEs, took on the project during the pandemic.
While the search results do not provide information about the person who built the modernized vehicle based on the 1962 Jaguar E-Type FHC, the Surgeon's passion for the classic car is evident in the meticulous restoration. If you're in the market for a piece of automotive history with a modern twist, this restored E-Type could be the perfect fit.
