The 100th Gibson Custom SJ-200 Monarch, a testament to the pinnacle of Gibson acoustic guitar design, carries a weighty $99,999 price tag. This exclusive model, produced by the Gibson Custom Shop, was created to establish the ultimate Gibson acoustic guitar to date.

The SJ-200 Monarch, a staple part of Gibson's builds since 1994, is described as one of the most exclusive models produced by the Gibson Custom Shop. Potential buyers can contact the Gibson Garage Nashville at (615) 933-6000 for more information about this remarkable instrument.

The acoustic guitar is a museum-worthy work of art, adorned with exquisite trimmings fit for royalty. The four-bar moustache bridge is made from Brazilian rosewood, while the headstock veneer features Brazilian Rosewood and is bejeweled with a hand-engraved crown headstock inlay composed of 1.2 ounces of solid gold and nine 0.1-carat natural diamonds.

The SJ-200 Monarch also boasts solid 18K gold-bordered mother-of-pearl bars, hand-laid and engraved rosewood shield, and mother of pearl and abalone crown detailing. The guitar is finished in a Tri-Tone Burst, and the neck is a two-piece AAA maple neck with Indian rosewood stringers, a rounded profile, and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.

The 100th Gibson Custom SJ-200 Monarch is not just a guitar, but a piece of art. It features a 0.25-carat diamond at the peak of the crown and engraved gold Waverly tuning machines. The guitar's origins date back to the mid-'90s, prepared for NAMM.

Don Ruffatto, Gibson's Senior Vice President of Global Product, explained that the Monarch guitar was created in 1994 as a way to showcase the Montana build. Gibson offers more affordable acoustic options such as the Acoustic Specials series, the Parlor Rosewood EC, and heavy metalified acoustics for those seeking a more accessible entry into the world of Gibson guitars.

However, for those who appreciate the pinnacle of acoustic guitar craftsmanship, the SJ-200 Monarch remains a rare and coveted treasure in the realm of music instruments. The SJ-200 Monarch comes with a one-of-a-kind Gibson Custom Monarch 100 hardshell case that features a compass of sorts, further emphasising its unique status. The 100th Gibson Custom SJ-200 Monarch is a testament to the skill and dedication of the luthiers at Gibson's Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana, who handcrafted this masterpiece.
