Dresden Dynamo no longer desired his presence. - Ehlers transfers to Braunschweig.
"Although I wanted to join Dresden, I'm glad it's Braunschweig instead," says Ehlers, who signed with Eintracht till 2027. "The discussions with the people there were fantastic, and they left me feeling great. I can't wait to start."
Dynamo's lack of interest may have influenced his decision: "Regrettably, no one contacted me. I thought it'd be different after so much time."
Ehlers' discontent is obvious. After all, he's been at Dynamo Dresden since 2017.
Despite this, he takes many positive things with him: "I've developed from a youth player to a pro and from a teenager to an adult here, and I've had many amazing moments. This will always be my home."
Ehlers' move to Dresden can be credited to ex-Dynamo and fan favorite Cristian Fiel: "As a coach, he initially brought me from Rostock to Dynamo's U17 team, and then pushed me into the pros. I owe him a lot."
Playing 100 games for Dynamo
He's thankful for the final coach Heiko Scholz, who substituted him in the last 3rd division match against Duisburg (4:0): "It was a remarkable experience, as it marked my 100th game for Dynamo. Reaching this milestone isn't common at a club like this."
Injuries hindered Ehlers' progress, which might explain his recent underperformance and reduced playing time.
"I think it's time for a change," Ehlers says. "Changing scenery will be beneficial for me now..."
