Victory at the Saxony Cup! - Dynamo Dresden secures victory against Aue.

In the beginning, this derby was extremely intense! Even before the match started, a firework rocket was launched from the visitor's section onto the field. The action was just getting started.

Both teams had already qualified for the first round of the DFB Cup, but they were not willing to give anything to each other. They wanted to give their fans, who were creating an overwhelming atmosphere on both sides, the trophy.

There were rough two-on-two battles for every ball, plenty of niggling, and many fouls. Referee Michael Nather and his assistants had their work cut out for them.

During the first half, there was even a skirmish. After Aue's Tashchy fouled Büning, security had to separate the players on the field.

Before halftime, Dynamo had several opportunities. Hauptmann, Zimmerschied, and Kutschke had the lead. Meanwhile, Vukancic and Tashchy were trying to score the first goal for Aue.

The game remained scoreless until halftime, but the tension was high. Dynamo Dresden's managing director David Fischer said on MDR, "This is a derby. If football is supposed to be emotional, that's what it's all about."

Aue's sporting director Matthias Heidrich shared the same view: "There's a lot in that game that you'd want for a cup final."

The 27,000 spectators in the stadium - including around 2,700 fans of Aue and Dynamo's new head coach Thomas Stamm - definitely got their money's worth. This set a new record for a game in the Sachsen Cup.

The atmosphere remained just as intense after the break.

In a major chance for Hauptmann, the K-Block was already cheering for the goal, but Aue's Vukancic somehow managed to block it (66.).

However, Dynamo kept pushing forward. A free kick from Thiel hit the post of the SGD goal (73.). The ball just wouldn't go in. As a result, a 30-minute extension was added - all the way to the last reserve of energy.

Vlachodimos Scores a Double

Finally, the winning goal came: In the 110th minute, substitute Vlachodimos, who was playing his last game for Dynamo, slammed the ball into the net with great force from close range for a 1-0 lead. And five minutes later, with his second shot, he made it 2-0. After that, it was only celebration time.

The draw for the first round of the DFB Cup will take place on June 1st on ARD. Both Saxon teams will be in the pot once again.
