Due to renovations, the judiciary aims to seize the house from the clan.

Restoring homes may not always be advantageous, as illustrated by a Lebanese family living in Ostercappeln near Osnabrück, whose attractive apartment complex with cast-iron gates and opaque fences could be seized by the public prosecutor's office.

Allegations of illegal financial transactions - Due to renovations, the judiciary aims to seize the house from the clan.

Detectives have scoured the site multiple times in the past, with the assistance of a significant police presence. The targets of these investigations were brothers Osman (33) and Hadi Z. (31), who've previously been convicted of crimes. At a highly protected trial in Osnabrück District Court in March 2022, the siblings and their two accomplices (40, 30) were found guilty of serial break-ins and robberies. The total amount of money stolen at the time: a whopping 51,300 euros.

The Osnabrück public prosecutor's office took an unconventional action next - and briefly seized a house the serving civil war refugees had acquired from the local council. Officially, the dwelling, along with the land, belong to the convicted brothers' sister (44). She is currently under scrutiny for laundering funds, where she is believed to have used cash she knew resulted from illegal activities to enhance her own property. A spokesperson for the authorities: "She is alleged to have utilized funds from criminal deeds to enhance her residential property."

The agency in charge of handling clan crime in Lower Saxony dispatched an expert to the house to inspect documents and any ongoing renovations. If the resulting improvement to the property's worth reached a certain threshold, as determined by case law, the entire property could be forfeited.

Investigators last searched the clan house in February 2024 with a large police force and confiscated documents, storage media and cell phones
