No evidence of embezzlement found against Curtius. - Dropped: Legal actions against ex-DFB general secretary
Great news for ex-DFB General Secretary Friedrich Curtius (48)! The investigation into potential breach of trust has been closed by the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office without any conditions. This stemmed from a DFB contract with media consultant Kurt Diekmann, which Curtius signed back in the fall of 2019 for €360,000.
However, the real drama began when the nature of Diekmann's services came into question. Fritz Keller, former DFB President, and Curtius, along with Treasurer Stephan Osnabrügge (53) and Vice President Rainer Koch (65), had a heated dispute about the matter. In the end, Keller had to resign in May 2021 due to a negative outburst aimed at Koch, while Curtius decided to end his contract with the DFB shortly afterwards.
The authorities suspected that the Diekmann case was nothing more than a sham contract. They even searched the DFB headquarters and Curtius' personal residence to seize relevant documents in March 2022. After thoroughly examining and analyzing numerous data carriers, the authorities have now concluded the proceedings. According to Curtius' lawyer, Hanns Feigen, "not even a trace of suspicion remained".
