Law enforcement officials have arrested an individual for allegedly stealing numerous firearms and ammunition from multiple locations. - Dropped Charges: Assailant Fired in Self-Protection
Around half a year since a police officer fatally shot a man with a kitchen knife, the prosecutor's office has closed the case against the officer. The Paderborn public prosecutor's office stated on Tuesday that the 27-year-old cop was innocent since he acted in self-defense. According to them, it's probable that the individual shot was in a unique psychological state and attempted to provoke the officer's shots.
On October 11, 2023, the police officer recounted that the 30-year-old had directed the knife towards him and rushed forward from a distance of four meters. Due to his inability to dodge backward, he perceived no alternative but to employ his firearm. This version of events was backed up by witness accounts from passersby and fellow officers engaged in the operation. Additionally, an expert opinion verified that the shots were discharged from a distance of roughly half a meter. In total, the man was struck by four bullets in his hand, chest, stomach, and head.
A few weeks prior to the fatal gunshots at a road intersection, there had been an operation within the individual's home setting, according to investigators. Under the term "suicide by cop," which translates to intentionally provoking fatal police shots, the officers had noted that the man had regretted the previous police officers' failure to draw their weapons. "Based on the behavior during the stop, it appears highly likely that the 30-year-old man carried out his previously mentioned plan at the intersection and met his end as a result," the prosecutor's office declared on Monday.
