DraftKings launches new peer-to-peer fantasy game Pick6

DraftKings on Wednesday announced the launch of Pick6, a new peer-to-peer fantasy sports game based more or less on this concept.

Pick6's debut comes nearly three months after DraftKings filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a new fantasy game that would put the operator in more direct competition with Prize Picks and Underdog Sports. These companies have gained traction in recent years by offering alternatives, including more or less games, to the standard daily fantasy sports (DFS) popularized by DraftKings and FanDuel.

As with all DraftKings fantasy editions, Pick6 customers compete peer-to-peer for guaranteed prizes. The product is simple: "Customers can assemble a roster of two to six players from two or more teams, selecting a statistic more or less for each athlete on the team," the headquarters said. the Boston-based gaming company said in a statement.

Pick6 currently offers NBA and NFL games. DraftKings has not yet revealed whether it will expand to the NHL, which is currently in season, or to MLB when the 2024 MLB season begins.

Pick6 Arrives After Price Pick and Failure Controversy

Pick6 for DraftKings comes on the heels of national controversy surrounding PrizePicks and Underdog Fantasy, which operators believe was driven by DraftKings and FanDuel. The crux of the argument is that DFS games offered by companies like PricePicks and Underdog in states that don't allow the activity are more akin to sports betting.

This is relevant because Underdog and some of its similar competitors operate in states coveted by the sports betting industry. Underdog currently offers fantasy games in 41 states and fantasy select games in 39 states. Underdog operates in California, Florida, Georgia and Texas, none of which have competitive sports betting markets.

On a related note, DraftKings' Pick6 debuts in Maryland, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Of this group, only Maryland and Tennessee allow mobile sports betting, while Wisconsin allows sports betting at tribal casinos.

Given the current state of sports betting in the U.S., South Carolina is one of the states least likely to join the party anytime soon, with Minnesota failing multiple attempts to legalize sports betting.

DraftKings Announces Debut of Progressive Partaking

In addition to the launch of Pick6, DraftKings also announced the upcoming launch of its progressive pay-with-interest product. Progressive combinations allow bettors to receive some compensation if they miss one or more parts of the combination.

While Pick6 is DraftKings’ latest fantasy sports variant, the company also recently launched Progressive Parlays as a new, more comprehensive feature to be rolled out across its premier sports betting product,” the operator added Road. “A progressive parlay is a type of regulated sports betting for casinos in which parlays are placed on player props that provide a chance of winning even if one or more legs of the parlay lose. "

At a recent industry conference, DraftKings CEO Jason Robins mentioned that the launch of the progressive product with interest is just weeks away.
