Movie canine Messi - Dogs dominate in Cannes
Beware if you don't obey the strict dress code at the 77th Cannes Film Festival! Men are forbidden from walking the red carpet of the opening ceremony without a tuxedo and black bow tie, with the exception of furry companions.
For about twenty minutes, everyone at Cannes was captivated by Messi, who strutted around on the carpet and barked on command.
It's likely that the festival organizers let Messi loose to alleviate the dog's stress and give him enough space to perform some tricks with his trainer.
But what's with the microphone in his snout? Messi has gained worldwide fame as the movie dog Snoop in the French Oscar nominee "Anatomy of a Case." He's already had his own spot in the audience at the Oscars, receiving plenty of hugs and pats from A-listers.
Messi has a pantheon of celebrity admirers
The organizers of the Cannes Festival have similar aspirations and hired Messi as a four-legged journalist. Along with a comedian, he produces short videos for French television every day, with the intention of interviewing some celebrities - through "a dog's perspective and innocence," as they call it.
Messi is hardly new to Cannes. Last year, he graced the red carpet with Sandra Hüller (46) and the other stars of "Anatomy of a Case" when the film won the festival's most prestigious prize, the Palme d'Or.
Cannes can turn dogs into celebrities too!
