The railway system - Disruptions in train services to Schwerin caused by building projects.

Commuters taking trains between Hamburg and Schwerin or Ludwigslust and Schwerin will experience significant disruptions starting on Tuesday afternoon. This is due to necessary construction work on a concrete structure underneath the tracks, as announced by Deutsche Bahn.

A temporary bus service will be put in place for local train services connecting Hamburg and Schwerin. The RE1 train will run between Holthusen, south of Schwerin, and Hamburg Central Station during this time. The construction work is set to continue until May 17. Long-distance trains between Schwerin and Hamburg are expected to be completely replaced by buses during this period.

Regional Trains Affected

In addition, the RB13 (Rehna-Schwerin-Parchim) between Schwerin and Plate, the RB17 between Schwerin and Ludwigslust, and the RE8 (Wismar-Berlin) between Schwerin and Holthusen will also be impacted. Alternative bus services have been arranged for these trains as well. Multiple news outlets have reported on this situation. Deutsche Bahn advises passengers to consult the bus and train schedules for updates on these disruptions.
