Fresh research discloses: A recent study uncovers: Recent findings expose: - Disruptions in daycare centers impose significant economic losses.
The truth is less than ideal: As per a Bertelsmann research, there's a deficiency of over 400,000 daycare spots in Germany at present.
Based on the Stepstone study "Working Parents and Beyond," if parents can't work full time, the German economy loses an untapped economic potential of 22.7 billion euros. Out of this, women are responsible for 80% (18.1 billion euros). In order to arrive at these figures, the authors adopted the hours worked part-time throughout Germany and multiplied it by the average pay.
"This is a problem for the economy," reflects Wido Geis-Thöne, who specializes in family policy and migration matters at the German Economic Institute (IW), addressing Handelsblatt. Due to staff shortages, many businesses are unable to make the most of their production capabilities.
Parents have understood the issue for years - but now it's affecting the corporate sector. A solution requires substantial and, most importantly, speedy endeavors!
To leverage significant political action, you need to insist on these concrete requests: expand daycare facilities, improve the profession of childcare workers financially, and also align the staff-to-child ratio to ensure top-notch care. Simultaneously, corporations must take responsibility too, particularly by granting more work schedule flexibility.
