Political issues arise - Discussion about anti-Semitism occurs following the Eurovision Song Contest with NDR.

Thorsten Schorn (48), the ESC commentator, and broadcaster NDR have been the focus of recent criticism.

Schorn received both praise and criticism after his impressive ESC debut. During the show, he covered the anti-Israel protests in Malmö and then made the statement: "There's been talk about how Russia was excluded from the ESC after the attacks on Ukraine, but Israel hasn't been, despite its actions in the Gaza Strip."

This remark confused people on social media. Media politician Jens Nacke (52) from the CDU's Lower Saxony state parliament took notice, and he penned down his thoughts. According to Nacke, Schorn gave space to anti-Semitic arguments during the entertainment program. "His comparison of Russia's illegal attack on a neighboring country to Israel's defensive response to a major terrorist attack is simply unjustified," Nacke stated. "Had he properly handled this issue, he would have countered anti-Semitism effectively."

Nacke has also questioned whether Schorn was ready for the expected protests concerning the Israeli performance during the ESC. "Therefore, I'd like to ask you, director Knuth, if you discussed explicitly how the Malmö protests should be handled ahead of the broadcast," Nacke added.
